WodaTherm™ BDTN HV108 is a high-voltage outdoor battery storage system with 108 kWh of nominal energy for commercial solar PV projects. The battery, BMS and thermal-management equipment are installed in a weather-protected IP54 cabinet with active heating and cooling. The system is designed for use with a compatible PCS or hybrid inverter and is configured for each project before production.

Commercial battery storage for solar PV

The HV108 is intended for businesses, workshops, farms, warehouses, offices and other sites whose energy profile requires substantially more storage than a typical home battery can provide. Depending on the inverter, controls and electrical design, it can store surplus PV generation for later use, increase on-site consumption of solar energy, shift consumption between daytime and evening, support peak-load management or supply selected loads during a grid outage.

The battery cabinet is the DC storage part of the project. A PCS or hybrid inverter, EMS, backup switching, metering, site protection, cabling, foundations, unloading and commissioning are included only when listed in the WodaTherm™ proposal. This distinction is important: the 108 kWh rating describes stored energy, while available AC power and operating functions depend on the selected inverter and the approved system design.

10 reasons to install the HV108 battery and inverter outside

With a compatible outdoor-rated PCS or hybrid inverter, the HV108 can form a separate commercial energy unit outside the occupied building. Ten practical reasons support this arrangement:

  1. Preserves commercial floor area: the 108 kWh system does not take space from a plant room, warehouse, workshop or internal utility area.
  2. Creates one independent outdoor energy point: the battery, suitable outdoor PCS or hybrid inverter, controls and site protection can be coordinated in one location.
  3. Separates the equipment from occupied rooms: when both battery and inverter are outside, a fault in this equipment is not located inside offices, production rooms or the main building.
  4. Allows placement near the electrical connection: the energy unit can be planned near the PV switchboard, transformer, EV chargers or the loads it is intended to support.
  5. Simplifies service access: technicians can inspect and maintain the battery and inverter without entering normal work areas or stopping indoor operations.
  6. Keeps cooling heat and fan noise outside: thermal-management heat and operating sound are not released into occupied spaces.
  7. Uses a purpose-built base for 1,050 kg: the cabinet load is carried by a designed external foundation rather than an existing building floor.
  8. Improves delivery and replacement logistics: an accessible yard position can be reached by pallet equipment or a crane without moving the cabinet through the building.
  9. Supports site security: fencing, locks, bollards, lighting, CCTV and controlled access can protect the battery and inverter together.
  10. Leaves room for planned expansion: the site layout can reserve space for another cabinet or future power equipment where the approved electrical design allows it.

The final location must still satisfy the project requirements for foundations, drainage, earthing, cable protection, ventilation and service clearances, distance from openings and escape routes, vehicle-impact protection, snow, roof runoff and local flood risk.

Heating, cooling and IP54 protection

Battery performance and service life are strongly affected by temperature. The HV108 therefore uses active cabinet heating and cooling under BMS supervision. The thermal-management system supports operation through seasonal temperature changes and protects the battery from unsuitable charging conditions. Exact setpoints, auxiliary consumption and the approved ambient range are confirmed for the ordered configuration and installation site.

The IP54 cabinet limits dust ingress and protects against splashing water under the applicable test conditions. IP54 does not mean that the cabinet can be submerged or installed in standing water. A level load-bearing base, correct drainage, intact seals, properly installed cable glands and the specified service clearances remain essential.

High-voltage system for a compatible inverter

The nominal battery voltage is 345.6 V and the configured capacity is 314 Ah. The 0.5C operating-rate reference corresponds to approximately 54 kW on the battery side. Final charge and discharge power is limited by the approved battery configuration, BMS, inverter, protection system, temperature and operating strategy.

Inverter compatibility cannot be determined from nominal voltage alone. Before order, WodaTherm™ verifies the PCS or hybrid-inverter model, DC operating window, BMS communication protocol, pre-charge and switching concept, isolation monitoring and the required emergency and service procedures.

Project preparation and delivery

Before the order is released, the site load profile, required usable energy, PV output, inverter model, expected charge and discharge power, reserve strategy, installation environment and access conditions are reviewed. WodaTherm™ then confirms the battery configuration, BMS interface, cabinet arrangement, cable entries, thermal management, documentation and the exact scope of supply.

The supplier price reference includes standard DDP transport to European countries. Remote-area surcharges and site-specific unloading, crane work, foundations, installation or commissioning are included only when stated in the final proposal. Expected delivery is 30 days. Send us the inverter or PCS model, the installation address, photographs of the proposed location and the available load or consumption data so that we can prepare the correct HV108 configuration.
