WodaTherm™ BDTN LV64 is an outdoor low-voltage battery storage system for commercial solar PV. The verified order specification uses four 51.2 V, 314 Ah battery units in the 64 kWh class, a 0.5C operating reference, an IP54 outdoor cabinet, more than 8,000 cycles under the prescribed conditions, a five-year warranty reference and CE, UN38.3 and MSDS documentation for the ordered configuration.

LV64 is the DC battery-storage portion. A compatible low-voltage hybrid inverter or PCS, EMS, backup switching, metering, protection, cabling, foundation, unloading, installation and commissioning are included only when the final WodaTherm™ proposal states them. The inverter is not automatically included.

64 kWh outdoor battery storage for commercial solar PV

The LV64 is intended for farms, workshops, offices, retail or production sites, charging locations and larger homes. Depending on the approved inverter and design, it can increase on-site PV use, shift energy to evening operation, manage selected peaks or supply project-defined backup circuits. Usable energy depends on the agreed operating window, reserve strategy and inverter settings.

10 reasons to place the LV64 battery and inverter outside

  1. Preserves substantial indoor space: four battery units do not occupy a plant room, workshop, garage, warehouse or production area.
  2. Creates a separate outdoor energy centre: battery, suitable inverter, controls and protection can share one defined technical zone.
  3. Separates equipment from people, production and stock: a fault is not located in offices, customer areas or indoor storage.
  4. Allows siting near the main electrical infrastructure: the system can be planned near PV distribution, a main switchboard, farm building or charging hub.
  5. Provides direct service access: technicians can inspect the system without entering occupied or controlled business areas.
  6. Keeps cooling heat and fan noise outside: rejected heat and operating sound do not burden conditioned rooms.
  7. Supports a short high-current 51.2 V DC route: a nearby compatible inverter helps limit cable length, voltage drop and losses at this power level.
  8. Simplifies handling of four battery units: an accessible outdoor position improves planning for delivery, cabinet access and later module work.
  9. Enables a dedicated security perimeter: anchoring, locks, fencing, bollards, lighting, CCTV and access control can protect the complete energy point.
  10. Leaves room for planned expansion: the outdoor layout can reserve service space and routes for future equipment when the approved design permits it.

51.2 V design and inverter compatibility

Four 51.2 V, 314 Ah units provide approximately 64.3 kWh calculated nominal energy. At 0.5C, the calculated battery-side reference power is approximately 32.2 kW. This is not guaranteed AC output. Actual power and functions depend on the approved inverter or PCS, its current limits, operating window, BMS protocol and the complete electrical design.

Low voltage means high DC current at this power. Cable size and length, busbars, fusing, isolation, connectors, protection and terminal torque must be engineered together. Matching 51.2 V alone is insufficient; WodaTherm™ verifies current capacity and BMS communication before production.

IP54 cabinet, heating and cooling

IP54 limits dust ingress and protects against splashing water under the relevant test; it is not a flood or immersion rating. The site requires a level load-bearing base, drainage, protected cable entries, service clearances, airflow, earthing, vehicle-impact protection and controlled access. Active heating and cooling support seasonal operation under BMS supervision. Final thermal settings and ambient limits are confirmed for the site.
