BYD Battery-Box Premium LV BMU-IP55 article 13172499-00 is the current external battery-management and communication unit for compatible Premium low-voltage Battery-Box systems. It coordinates communication between the battery system and an approved inverter and provides local commissioning access. The BMU stores no energy.

BYD discontinued the former steel-housing article 12939786-00 and replaced it with this aluminium-housing 13172499-00 version. Compatible system families and interfaces

The official V1.6 instruction manual covers BMU-IP55 from firmware 1.22 and names Premium LV FLEX, LV FLEX LITE, LVS, LVS LITE and LVL. The unit provides Ethernet, an RJ45 CAN connection for the inverter, an RJ45 connection for the Battery-Box and an LED button. It is powered by the Battery-Box through the network cable; no separate power supply is required.

Dimensions and delivery scope

The current manual states 220 × 60 × 176 mm (L × W × H), while BYD’s article-change notice gives the new enclosure as 154 × 222 × 59 mm (H × W × D). The documents use different orientation and one differing enclosure dimension, so allow a conservative 222 × 176 × 60 mm planning envelope and confirm the physical current unit before drilling or enclosure design.

The documented package contains one BMU, one instruction manual, three connectors and one hanger. PDU/base, battery modules, compatible inverter, project cabling, protection, mounting hardware for the actual substrate, design, installation and commissioning are separate.

A qualified installer must confirm the exact battery family, inverter, firmware, CAN pinout, cable specification, grounding, environmental conditions and current manufacturer compatibility before energising the system.
